My blog is so neglected! I've been having too much fun on Facebook. But I had to write about our day at the Draper Temple. Joe's day started at 6:30 am since he is an usher coordinator. I met him there at 9:30 am, where we had the opportunity to be Sealing Room Hosts. 14,000 went through on this day. The tour is mainly silent, except for when you get to the sealing rooms. That's where the hosts actually do talk and explain a bit about the rooms in the temple. I introduced us and then let Joe do the talking! He told of his two experiences at the altar, being married, and then several years later, being sealed to his parents and two brothers who passed away when he was young. It was so wonderful to feel the Spirit while he told that story, and he got choked up several times. A few times we had a lot of young kids, and so he didn't go into too much detail. After that, I went down to help with the refreshments while Joe continued on with ushering issues; a little boy got lost, a nonmember woman didn't want to leave, and the elevator broke for awhile among other things!
The funny thing is that out of the 16 hours Joe was there, he left for only 45 minutes for lunch and during that time Elder Holland, Elder Ballard, and Martin Luther King III came through the tour. He missed it! (I did, too). Oh well. Rusty and I came back later, at about 9:00 pm for him to play the piano in the stake center next to the temple, where the refreshments were being served. He did such a good job. The temple is definitely a special place, and I don't see how anyone can go through it and not be impressed, and not feel a special Spirit. I'm so grateful for temples and the ordinances performed there, and to be sealed to my family!
